We currently have planned and in progress (at different levels of completion):
  • The Aransas County Airport is in the midst of a multi-year  Capital Improvement Programt with the Texas Department of Transportation, Aviation Division.

     The planned improvements will include:

    • 2005 - Project Engineering $300,000.00 (Completed)
    • 2007 - Reconstruct & Mark Rwy 14/32  $3.3M (Completed)
    • 2007 - Project Engineering for Rwy 18/36 improvements (Completed) 
    • 2007 - Reconstruct & Mark Rwy 18/36  $2.45M (Construction to begin Monday October 29, 2007)
    • 2007 - Project Engineering for Rehab/Repair all Taxiways (Engineering underway)
    • 2008 - Overlay all Taxiways & Install MALSR Rwy 14 $5.28M

     

  • The Aransas County Airport is in the process of securing a release from the FAA of airport property that is not suitable for aviation nor needed for future growth.  The acreage proposed for sale is located on the Airport off John Wendell Rd and is currently a housing area. The area currently has 20 home sites on approx. 8.81 acres.  The proceeds of the sale will be placed in the Airport Fund for the operation and upkeep of the Aransas County Airport.
